I got some good information from two readers on ways to prevent Nimda and its
ilk from propagating. The first is a list of suggestions for securing Outlook,
courtesy of reader Bill Krick:
There is a very simple way to help stop the spread of many email viruses for Outlook Express users (the vast majority) that you should pass along to
your readers.
Here's what to do.
1. Tools -> Options -> Security
Change the Security Zone to "Restricted sites zone". This will prevent it from automatically running imbedded script viruses.
2. Tools -> Options -> Send
Change mail sending format to "Plain text" and uncheck "Reply to messages using the format in which they were sent". This will prevent infected machines from spreading script viruses through
email.
3. Force Windows to display the entire filenames. Open Windows Explorer, click on View -> Folder Options -> View, then UNcheck the "Hide file extensions for known file types" option. This will show you the full extension of all files for the next step.
4. Be wary of all file attachments regardless of who they are from. Don't open attachments with the following extensions under any circumstances:
.EXE .COM .BAT .PIF .LNK. SCR. JS. VBS. DOC.
There are hundreds of other potentially "bad" extensions as well but the above are the most commonly used by viruses.
For more info on "unsafe" extensions, go here.

From:
Dear all,
Last September 13, I've sent an email to a social theory list in which I provided some information about the falsity of the images of Palestinian celebration for the terrorism in USA, information given to me by a teacher. I spent the last day looking for that teacher, and, unfortunately, when I found her, she DENIED having access to such images.
She said that she was sure she had seen the images back in 1991, but SHE CAN'T PROVE. She was not willing to provide further information, DENYING what she had said before to a full class of students.
I sincerely apologize for this uncertain information; unfortunately I can't prove the information contained in my last post; IT'S ONLY A CONJECTURE, THAT THOSE IMAGES OF PALESTINIANS CELEBRATING IS FALSE. I bought the idea myself, and reproduced it for you because of the importance of it, in the case it was to be confirmed.
Whatever news I get I'll pass to you.
Best regards

Subject: CNN: Manipuating Images?
Independent Media Center
CNN USING 1991 FOOTAGE of celebrating Palistinians to manipulate you (english) Wednesday 12 Sep 2001 author: Marcio
I'd like to add some ideas from here, down south.
There's an important point in the power of press, specifically the power of CNN.
All around the world we are subjected to 3 or 4 huge news distributors, and one of them - as you well know - is CNN. Very well, I guess all of you have been seeing (just as I've been) images from this company. In particular, one set of images called my attencion: the Palestinians celebrating the bombing, out on the streets, eating some cake and making funny faces for the camera.
Well, THOSE IMAGES WERE SHOT BACK IN 1991!!! Those are images of Palestinians celebrating the invasion of Kuwait! It's simply unacceptable that a super-power of cumminications as CNN uses images which do not correspond to the reality in talking about so serious an issue.
A teacher of mine, here in Brazil, has videotapes recorded in 1991, with the very same images; he's been sending emails to CNN, Globo (the major TV network in Brazil) and newspapers, denouncing what I myself classify as a crime against the public opinion. If anyone of you has access to this kind of files, serch for it. In the meanwhile, I'll try to 'put my hands' on a copy of this tape.
But now, think for a moment about the impact of such images. Your people is hurt, emotionally fragile, and this kind broadcast have very high possibility of causing waves of anger and rage against Palestinians. It's simply irresponsible to show images such as those.
Finally, I'd like to say that we all regret and condemn all that has happened in the last days; but Nikos has a point here. I really don't want to be misunderstood here, but the truth is that US government had shown no respect for other countries in the last decades. In the 60s and 70s they had halped lots of military coups throughout the world (including Brazil in 64). Later, with Reagan and Bush Father, the Washington Consensus have been demolishing the bases of our economies, making us more and more dependant (and, many of us, prehocupied with this situation).
Your current president quickly made things worse: Kioto Protocol, Star Wars, Colombia Plan, the exchange of rain forest for pieces of external debt, tha abandonment of the position of third party in negotiations between IRA and England, and between Palestinians and Israel. All those mistakes in US external politics made your country more hatred than before, and, of course, more vulnerable.
Listen, I'm NOT justifying the terrorist actions that took place in your country; but it seems to me that, if your leaders had come along another path of thoughts and actions, you wouldn't be suffering what you are now.
Best regards, and the hope that everything is resolved for the best of all of us

Bin Laden is the multi-billionaire head of an international terror network dedicated to the destruction of the "twin evils" of American influence and capitalism worldwide.
An Arab journalist with access to Bin Laden said today that the terrorist leader warned three weeks ago that he and his followers would carry out an unprecedented attack on US interests for its support of Israel.
Abdel-Bari Atwan, editor of the Londonbased al-Quds al-Arabi newspaper, said Islamic extremists led by Bin Laden were "almost certainly" behind the attack on the World Trade Center.
He said: "Osama bin Laden warned three weeks ago that he would attack American interests in an unprecedented attack, a very big one.

Bruzz is now a level 72 barbarian. Frenzy has proven to be effective, but only after finding a charm that gives +90 poison damage. What's nice about charms is that when you use two weapons the extra damage is added to both.
That single charm was a transition point in Bruzz's effectiveness. Suddenly he no longer had to pound on someone for 5 minutes before they died, and I was no longer ambivilent about increasing the skill points devoted to Frenzy. I am now at a level 21 in Frenzy.
