These same military and business groups demonstrated their disdain for democracy by removing President Chavez at gunpoint, and then proceeding within hours to obliterate the entire elected Venezuelan national assembly. With a hint of irony, William Blum later wrote that the Bush administration would probably consider this "grassroots democracy."
